If I do idle, I do a fast idle at 1100 to 1200 rpm. This makes a better combustion process and is better for the engine.
+1, it also builds up the air pressure faster. Ours has to run the whole time the air pressure is rising and jacks are being raised. We try to idle ours as little as necessary but they do need to fast idle to build up air pressure before we can raise the jacks. We normally leave it idling a couple of minutes more while we store the jack pads, disconnect the electricity, and check the toad lights and signals then we're off. This can take more than 5 minutes on occasion.
Of course , we are not near as loud as the many people with Harleys and extremely loud pipes running in and out several times a day, or the PUs with loud pipes, or the loud kids running through the park, or the newlyweds doing their thing, or ......... When you are in close quarters, it doesn't take much to be too loud!!
