This is an interesting conversation. We just came back from a week in the White Mountains of AZ. We have a PW Excel class B. It has the Ford V-10 engine. Has plenty of power to climb mountains. Will it go on rough trails like my GMC Yukon 4x4, no. But we are able to take it on any gravel or dirt forest road. It is only 20 feet long and can go in places other class RVs can't. We also like the fact that when you go to places during the day on these gravel or dirt forest roads to lakes or scenic spots with a class B, you have with you your bathroom, kitchen, beds for a nice nap after lunch, and can sit outside under your awning all of which we did on this trip. The pleasure of a B is that you can take all your stuff with you to a secluded spot for the day. I used to use my Yukon to tow a trailer. During the day we would take the Yukon to off road spots. When we got where we wanted to go, we wished we had the stuff that we had in our trailer (lunch, bathroom, comfortable place to rest and take in the scenery). So we got a class B. That is why we love our class B. You have everything you need when you get where you are going. Granted you can't go rock crawling with it, but everything is a compromise and it goes to most normal places without any hassle. Just my opinion.
