ink stain on leather

Quite a while ago someone had asked about removing ink stains from leather. I did a search and got no results. Does anyone know how to remove ink stains from leather ?

  • I have not Tested this Yet but have been told that those Baby Wipes will clean Ink from Leather and" Vinyl Furniture!

I keep thinking that this must not be too gentle to the Babies Bottom!
  • Funny this just came up as I removed ink from a ballpoint pen just a couple of days ago! We have white leather La-Z-Boys and DH accidentally got ink on the arm. I did a search and found that rubbing alcohol was suggested to remove the ink. I used several cotton swabs--dipping in the alcohol and then squeezing them so they were not dripping wet. As soon as the blue ink started to show on the q-tips, I went to a new one. You don't want to smear the ink into a larger area. After I got the ink off, I blotted the area with a white paper towel. Then I finished off by wiping with a leather cleaner and conditioner. Looks perfect! Chairs are only a year old.

    Hope this helps.

  • Many many years ago I was an office machine repairman we used lemon extract to remove marks from ball point pens. It worked like a charm every time. It might be worth a try.
  • If it is smooth leather and not suede, then plain old isopropyl alcohol(not rubbing alcohol) and a cotton swab should work.
  • My wife used a cleaning pen that had bleach in it....NOT A CHLORINE BLEACH but the other sort of bleach that out on the market. Oxy -something or other and it took it right off my leather dash
  • My CEO/Navigator used leather cleaner made by Guardian to clean an ink mark on our sofa and it did the trick. Ours was probably pleather instead of leather.
