We also rent an enclosed storage garage in Southern California. The facility has about 100 enclosed garages where the facility is gated, camera'd and has a manager on duty M-F (9-4). We have a our own gate fob so we can come and go anytime.
Obviously, I find value in this rental garage as the coach is protected from the sun when not in use. We get enough sun when traveling!
I have looked into garage condo's but there is not a guarantee that they appreciate all that much. By the time that you pay yearly property taxes, utilities, alarm service, closing costs and commissions (buying and selling), you are still out money like a rental. When we are done, I will just turn in a notice, no muss, no fuss.
I would like to have a garage next to my residence but we are in a HOA.
