We are a retired couple with a fifty pound dog. We love our 24 foot gasser. We mostly boondock and some of the places we like to go would not be accessible with a rig much larger than ours. Our Phoenix Cruiser has large tanks which are important to boondockers. We like it because it is short, lower than most and narrow. Yes, we give up a little room but the driveability and parkability make it worthwhile. We had Class Bs for years, so a 24 footer is huge to us. It just depends on what you get used to I supect.
By the way, we would not want a MB based unit because of service in some of the areas we travel. Every county seat has a Ford and Chevy place. I know, I know: they are very popular but we were "skeered off" when we found that factory service could be hundreds of miles apart....like no one between Albuquerque and Denver, for example. None in Kansas except the KCM area. They are marvelous for those in some places, but just won't hack it with us.
