I'm just curious, are there regular caps underneath that cover? I've never heard of servicing a maintenance free battery. It's my understanding they utilize different plate materials and configurations, as well as other design features that eliminate the need for an open/vented system. This closed system prevents the electrolyte (water) from boiling off during charge sequence.
So this makes me wonder... Do you recall approximately how much water the batteries used?
