Inverter 3000 question

Just Installed a 18Cu FT Frigidaire in a 2008 AB and I have a xantrex 3000 inverter system from the factory
It runs great on the inverter system and my question to anyone whom has experience is when the batterys run low and the inverter power drops below acceptable voltages needed to run the fridge what happens
? does the inverter shut off or exactly what protects the fridge from compressor damage from low voltage?
This question only relates to a ""what If"" situation as I plan to make sure this situation does not occur

I really have never observed that in my outings... All of my meters are on the DC side... I think it should continue to put out within range 120VAC but don't know that for a fact. They guys that live 24/7 in their big RV's will have to dime in here with that question...

I do know when I am pulling around 20-25AMPs continuous for 5-6 hours I really don't see much dropping in DC Current as my DC VOLTMETER starts dropping down from its 12.5-6VDC to the 12.0VDC which is probably telling me the Power Inverter is still putting out the same 120VAC level.

This is probably more of a battery performance curve than the Power Inverter performance curve for me...

  • Your inverter will continue to put out good 110/115V until it cannot do so any longer at which point the inverter will shut down. I have had this happen several times in the past and my 22 year old HH fridge is still running like a top! You really don't need to be concerned.

thanks Bill that's is what I was wondering as I was thinking it may go to a lower than acceptable voltage and be hard on the fridge
But I have set my low voltage to 11.8 so should be good to go
this new fridge only draws like 1.5 amps when running after start up

But what iam also concerned about is say at 11.5 battery volts what kind of inverter voltage am I receiving?
Will it(inverter) still make 110V at 11.5 input?
Yes the inverter will make 120vac just fine down to 10.0 volts unless it shuts down earlier.
The 120vac does not taper off. The inverter pulls increasing amps to make up the difference and apply constant 120vac.
There will be no harm to the fridge. Food will get warm however.

If you have an on-board generator consider an autostart set to about 12.1 volts.

yes I have gen autostart so will program it now that I fully understand the inverter systems better
Its extremely seldom where I will be letting the fridge run for any length of time without vehicle running or pluged in to SP
Just the odd few hours of sleeping at a rest area or a casino parking lot when on the road
  • Thanks a bunch for all whom gave me great informations especially to a guy like me that thinks he knows everything about RV etc LOL
    much appreciated for sure
