I'm familiar with this subject. It's kinda the story of my life. Many is the times that I have been very motivated by the excitement of a relatively new hobby. And now, at senior age, I'm no longer looking for another hobby. Therefore, I work at squeezing everything I can from a few old hobbies. Keeping up with maintenance and repairs of my equipment is a hobby, kinda. But, the use of this equipment is very enjoyable. Participating in fishing forums and RVing forums is a hobby that's very helpful, even if I'm doing less of it than previously. Actually, there's a bit of sadness associated with all of this, because many of my longtime friends have passed on.
