On our outbound trip recently we had hit a 4x4 that caused us to stop at the next rest area. I was looking for any damage and had to get down on my knees at the rear wheel and front wheel. At first I thought I might have ruptured my black tank as there was a distinct urine smell. Yet after looking nothing was dripping on the ground. Then I thought maybe the DEF tank got hit. Nope it wasn't that. I then smelled my hands and yup, there was a smell of urine and upon smelling the cement it was everywhere in the trailer lane. Why pull over to use the rest area and are then too lazy to make it to the bathroom. Just wiz all over your tires or the ground? Gross. I assume it might mostly be OTR drivers? Next time I'll be sure to use rubber gloves if needing to inspect anything. :E

You just need to stop at higher class rest stops, that's all.Saw an article somewhere the other day about a city that was starting to paint certain walls with a coating that was so strongly hydrophobic that it would bounce the stream of urine back onto the shoes and pants legs of the perp. Obviously a lot more of this paint needs to be applied elsewhere.

From what I hear, some truck drivers keep a "pee can" in their cabs with them, to minimize stops. When they do occasionally stop, they use rest area parking lots to discharge the contents of the can. Gross & nasty, but there's not much we can do about it. I guess the rubber gloves are a good idea... :(

That is something that never should have happened.Not making excuses, but offering alternatives. Could be a medical issue. Maybe they just could not hold it any longer.I cannot make the walk because I am disabled, but then again I always use the facilities in our trailer.And why are OTR truck drivers to blame?

I'm not going to claim holier-than-thou status. I've done things in the past. But I was also taught as a kid to be respectful of property and treat stuff as if it were my own. Even a public restroom.

Just a point mentioned several posts ago. Of course it is a trucker(s) doing it. There are no 4 wheelers in the truck parking. Does auto parking area smell like pee? Never ran into that in an auto parking but NUMEROUS times in truck parking. Down south with the heat and humidity of the summer, it stinks. If I get out to kick the tire or walk around to check the hookup, I think about my shoes on that nasty, biohazard asphalt and sometimes hesitate to even wear them back inside. What do you guys do in this situation?

J-Rooster, I think things have changed a lot since you've retired. Truckers used to be some of the most courteous drivers on the road. Not so much anymore. They fail to stay right, get in the far-left lane where they're not supposed to, tailgate, etc. Why, now they're just like the 4-wheelers! Throw in the trucker bombs and they're worse! At least until the 4-wheeler drivers start throwing their own pee out the window.

I'm a retired Over The Road Trucker and when I stopped at a rest area I always used the restrooms. I enjoyed the short walk also which, gave me a chance to stretch out my legs! I never carried a pee can in my cab and never knew of any other trucker that did and I drove for 44-1/4 years! I heard of some truckers that would urinate outside at weigh stations which, I totally disagree with. The new semi's with sleepers (not day cabs) have motorhome technology built inside of them!

Getting caught urinating in public can get you on the sex offender list due to indecent exposure. Probably the reason that you see so many "trucker bombs" along side the highways...

Suggestion: Use a Little John Pilot Urinal. Then, at the next restroom, empty the bottle (it's resuable).

And for anyone in that position I genuinely feel sorry for. Maybe stop sooner?

Some people just don't get it, when you gotta go you just have to go. I've seen the day that when I get out of the truck there isn't enough time to get to the bathroom, let alone the trailer. Your pants are already wet so you grab the first place you can!!!
