Do your walk thru's carefully, make a list of what appliances are installed and then do a search customer satisfaction reports. Same for the Chassis, and engine, transmission. Age date the tires, but most of all, inspect the cabinets see if the are really wood or chip board covered with vinyl, inspect the drawers and their slides. many are simply junk that will plague you with fixes your entire ownership.
We shopped for well over 2 years until we found what we wanted at a price we could afford.
Newmar is a real quality coach, ask any owner.
Thanks Tom/Barb- I've been 'researching' for over a year now, but so often, many questions often go unanswered, or sometimes you get several different answers for the same question, so in the end, it is up to the individual to find out themselves.
I do find it helpful though, in getting answers from those that have had motorhomes, as often they've been amongst others for years, while travelling, and on doubt complaints will crop up, helping those to get some answers answered.
I'd personally pay a little more for quality workmanship in a unit. For instance one small issue being, many coaches come with two couches....whereas we'd prefer to only have one, plus a comfortable chair/ottoman and computer/sewing desk....so it's small things like this that when looking at numerous units, subtracts a large portion of them out of the lineup! There again, I suppose one 'could' take out a couch and have what's needed added as well?
Yes, we've heard Newmar is 'up' there in quality compared to many others. I keep hearing folks drooling over Newell motorhomes, and right off the bat, far too expensive for our taste, and most are 40+ feet, so they just wouldn't work at all for us. We like to get off the beaten path...so to speak from time to time, thus, boon docking to use our quads to see the beautiful views from up in the mountains is a pastime we enjoy.
Lots to consider, so thanks for your thoughts!
