- gswcgiExplorerTry San Diego County Park "Guajome" off of hyway 76 or 78 near the Ocean. Great park not well known partial hook ups. Have stayed there many times. check it out.
- LouisaExplorerThank you so much, Smitty!
- Smitty77ExplorerIn the San Diego area, closer to the Lake San Marcos you mentioned, is also Santee Lakes. Keeps you within a 30 min drive to the beaches, downtown San Diego, the zoo, etc.
More expensive, and while a great location, not really all that great of a site, is Campland on The Bay. The Chula Vista Marina RV park is also in the higher price point as Campland, but is a more traditional and bit nice layout.
KOA in Chula Vista is also a well known RV park that is family owned and well kept.
A bit different, being only black asphalt, is the State Park on Silver Strand by Coronado. Not inexpensive, and does not have full hook ups. But, they do have a honey dipper truck that can take care of waste for a reasonable fee.
Best of luck to you, have fun, be safe,
Smitty - LouisaExplorerThank you both so very much. We will look into both suggestions.
- SCVJeffExplorerIf you don't mind a little drive up the 15, Pechanga Resort & Casino has a very nice resort class park at the casino itself. All full hookup and patrolled 24/7. WiFi is free, fast, and blankets the entire campground nicely. And a Golf Course on the property :)
- Kayteg1Explorer III used to live in the area, so know it pretty well, but not from RV site.
I guess you have never seen Lake SM before.
I know there is upscale RV park in Escondido, but if you find something close to the Ocean, you will appreciate it much better.
Those parks during summer usually require year advanced reservation, so good luck.
Than if you go for couple nights only, I would check if Wild Animal Park allows overnight parking.
WAP is something you should see on such visit anyway.
