Sometimes rotating the pump nozzle 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise from vertical will make a difference.
I had a similar issue with my 2002 Roadtrek, and it had to do with a lengthened and slightly more convoluted path for the fill pipe, from the fill port to the tank. They had to modify the stock fill pipe to reach the repositioned fuel tank, so they could mount the generator.
Try it, next time you fill up.
