Jack knife couch

The room behind my driver's captain chair for a couch is 72 inches. The kitchen cabinet is on one end and the living room slide wall is on the other. The 72 inches wouldn't be real bad but the factory couch has arms on the ends that are about 3 inches wide each. That only gives 66 inches of sleeping room when we have more than just the two of us. I haven't been able to find a 72-inch jack knife couch without arms that looks decent and is functional. I would like to keep the storage underneath if possible so obviously, I'm not crazy about a futon. A hide-a-bed goes too far across the m/h when unfolded and wouldn't allow exit without walking across the bed.

Has anyone had this issue and solved it to your satisfaction?

    Why not pull out the couch, see if the 3" wide arms can be removed. If they can, then hide the area where they were with throw pillows? Or get creative with the arms and convert them into removable types. Sounds like a fun project.

    That's why it's for guests :-)

    But I dunno, everyone that uses ours comments on how comfortable it is. But it's an '84 Allegro so expectations start pretty low anyway.

    These are all pretty good ideas. I especially like Jim@HiTek's idea of converting what I have. I wouldn't have to worry about it fitting my space, color matching or style. I looked and the arms will unbolt. Now to see if I can make them detachable. If that fails RLS7201's, Ivylog or mike brez' suggestions are good alternatives.

    I wish I had room for a hide-a-bed, like Wolf's idea but I think it would just be too much trouble. My sleeping hours just don't match up with normal humans and I don't want to be stuck on either side of a hide-a-bed.

    My old Allegro Bus had a comfortable jack-knife and the one I have now isn't too bad,,,,, just too short.

    I switched out ours to a magic bed but it has arms. It is also very comfortable.
