The RVA jacks on my coach are left down while in storage. The cylinders that are exposed do not touch any seals when they are retracted so accumulated dirt is not a problem, nor is it necessary to spray them with any lubricant.
The cylinders are actually 1/4" smaller than the bore and the seal is at the top of the cylinder where it is protected from corrosion and dirt.
Basically, the best thing to do is to follow the manufacturers recommendations. Of course you may want to wonder what full timers do with their leveling jacks. I am guessing that they are left extended the better part of each year whenever they are parked.
