Joining the A ranks!

Signed papers on a 2004 Itasca Sunrise M-30W. Will take delivery in 2 weeks (dealer is going through it; new tires, new awning, new batteries (3), new generator carb, new slide toppers, making sure everything is working; jacks, slides, etc.). Can't wait! Gotta get the old trustworthy Class C sold now; hope the new Class A gives me as many good years!

Any words of advice on the transition from C to A? I know I'm looking forward to the increase in capacities (fuel, water, black/grey tanks, towing), as well as the increase in living space that 2 slides provide. Driving the A is obviously going to be a bit different than the van cab of the C.

  • Do NOT take delivery until ALL items that were promised are complete. If you hand over the money on a promise from the dealer you won't end up a "happy camper".
  • 4X4, you finally gave up on that Jambo, good for you! I did the same thing and likewise bought a 04 Winnebago a long time ago. Your really going to like the upgrade and when you get used to driving the Class A you will wish that you would have done it sooner.

The transition to driving the A should be relatively easy for you, but there are differences. I looked at several videos on driving A's and also marked reference spots on the windshield to help stay aligned with the road. I left them on, every once in a while they come in handy. Most have a tendency to cheat to the right side of the lane, so watch your mirrors to help keep you centered.

And on the PDI with the dealer, I highly suggest you hire a mobile independent technician to go through the coach before the dealer gets your cash. It will be the best money you spend.

Good luck with the A! We love ours!

Heres one of those videos I liked:

  • Congrats on the A. I think you will like everything about the motorhome.
I like the higher driving position and view.

We'll be waiting for the pics. :)
