Kitchen window.

I have a 2008 3500 chevy express Roadtrek 190 Popular and i am wondering what the two rubber tubes are between the counter top and the kitchen window? There seems to be air coming in from there. If this is a fresh air intake what keeps the fumes from the refrigerator from entering the motorhome?
