Launching a boat with a class c

Do you use your rv to launch your boat. Discuss.

If it cant be seen, it has to be behind the motorhome. ;)
  • Yes, I launch my bass cat bass boat a lot. It is no different then launching with my truck. It is easier when there is a dock at the ramp. If the dock is away from the ramp it becomes more of a challenge when I am by myself. If I have assistance then it isn't a problem at all.

I have a back up camera, but I find I use the side mirrors more when I am backing up. No issues at all.

Some time back, there was a story that I believed to be true. It seems that the man of the house was going to launch the family boat with the Class C motorhome. His wife was to give him directions on which way to turn to get lined up with the ramp. That did not work so the man and his wife switched duties. She drove and he gave her directions. His directions were correct and when the boat was about to launch, the engine died on the motorhome. The wife was not aware that when the engine dies, the power brakes loose their boost. She allowed the motorhome to slowly but surely roll backwards until the motorhome was afloat before stopping. A wrecker was called to pull the motorhome out of the water. A little pricey adventure. :)
  • I have found when I launch with my C, if the landing has a dog leg it can become a real pain. I am putting a front hitch on this spring. It will be easier to back out with my camara when I don't have to jockey a trailer.
