Leak around bathroom skylight; purchase or not?

Had one with bad skylight. Found it out a year after i bought it. You open it up and it gets really expensive. Once you do that , might ad well replace the rubber roof too. Its a money pit. Run while you can. Find another one. Pay the fee to have it inspected top to bottom. You'll be thankful.

We didn't buy the one that he was showing us, it did have obvious water damage around the trim of the front windshield, apparently Winnegabo has had a problem with rust/leaks in the front windshield area.

If it's what you've been looking for, at least do this. You can tell a whole lot by looking at the condition of the wood etc after you pull the trim ring.

But generally it's best to keep looking. Not many people know leaks will happen, watch for them and proactively stop them.

the other way to play it is (if you really know what you are doing) is to use it as a negotiation tool if you've identified the "damage" as within your abilities to repair. YMMV on this one.

Probably not worth considering unless at a healthy discount already.

At the very very least, pull the trim ring (on the inside) around the skylight and inspect what can be inspected. My hunch is that you'll have no trouble deciding to walk at that point. At least on my motorhome, this inspection would involve the removal of a total of four little screws and maybe five or ten minutes total.

I would pass unless the price was right as in a heavy discount reflecting potential repair costs.

Especially for 40K!

my ceiling was not soft, but showed signs of water leakage. Everything resealed and though it was good. Till I put in the dehumidifier then everything got soft, will end up pulling down the ceiling in the kitchen and living areas to evaluate the damage and make repairs. My advice? RUN!!! unless you are into repairing things like am, my labor is cheap as opposed to paying higher prices. There is enough hidden damage from leaks that buying one where the damage already shows is not necessary.

With anything, find out the extent of the "damage". It may not be too severe but you need to find out the extent. If you can't find that out, "do you feel lucky?"
