Leaning coach

Can anyone tell me why my HR Ambassador 40 STK lists to the curb side after a couple days of being parked, with jacks up and slides in. It has air suspension.
  • The air is weeping out (normal) and it's leaning towards the side gravity is working on, also normal.

Turn it around the other way and it would probably lean the other way.
  • Well, it's not normal. Air shouldn't leak out in just a couple of days (just on one side).

2 Peeps, you don't say what year your coach is but you may need new airbags or a valve is stuck or is failing. Generally, if an airbag coach is sitting for quite sometime, it will fall evenly.

Just for reference, our 2008 Monaco Dynasty that we ordered new and kept for 7.5 yrs. and 70,000 miles didn't leak or lean. We had hydraulic and air leveling.

  • In response to Mr. Mark's query as to the year of the coach, it is a 2007 HR Ambassador 40SKT.
  • one of the curb side airbags is leaking..
when the coach leans it is a airbag
when it comes down level, it is in the pressure system.
  • Depends on what you consider listing. Some air loss is inevitable due to changes in temperature etc. Now if it's dropping several inches then you may also have a leak in one or more air bags. At 10 years, you might want to get under there with a soap bottle....Dennis

Temperature affects all bags the same.
    leaks not so much.
  • My 2003 Dutch Star will leak down in 5-7 days without the jacks down obviously. It goes down front end first and then the rear will go several days or up to a week later. I have found that the ride height valves have caused this in the past. It just hasn't been enough of an issue that I feel the need to replace them again.

Just a suggestion for those who need to replace ride height valves. It isn't difficult to do and you should search out the part number for the valve needed. Spartan supplied me the number. Part number or old valve in hand, go to a truck parts supply house and buy the valve. I saved nearly $100 per valve compared to my dealer or Spartan direct just on the parts.
  • Thanks to all for their input on "leaning coach" it was very helpful. Further input is welcome.
  • OK ASSUMPTIONS, as I have not worked on this specific chassis:

Your coach has three ride height valves-- two in the rear, one in front.

So a leak in the REAR is the likely cause of your leaning.

So, buy a small bottle of kiddie bubbles and check the "low side's" ride height valve, line to the air bag and air bag itself.
  • Also keep in mind, BLOCK the coach chassis before working on the suspension! Do not let the coach fall down on you! Safety first!
