Thinking about buying a stacker trailer. Would make my RV with trailer 75 ft long. Anyone have troubles when it comes to the law?
In Wa. state that is the legal limit. (75') - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIMany states have 60' and 65' length limits.....couple of feet over goes unnoticed
10'-15' over..that's tough for a LEO to NOT notice
That could easily be 'leave trailer here' and come get it with a proper length set up PLUS here's your Ticket
OK is 70' length

When you are legal in your home state, you are legal in all states. - MPondExplorer

I believe you're referring to reciprocity between the states, but that concept only applies to licensing, not equipment. - ArchHoaglandExplorerThat question comes up every few months and I've never seen anybody say they got a ticket.
I know there are a lot of overlength RV's pulling big trailers out there. Guess the police leave them alone as long as they are driving sensibly. - BobGedExplorerI would agree it most cases you're probably not going to get pulled over for being over-length, however should you be involved in an injury or property damage accident, your fault or not, all bets are off.
Accident investigators will surely take measurements which will be scrutinized by the legal representatives of others involved in the accident. Guess who is going to be thought to have the deepest pockets?
Remember ignorance of applicable laws in whatever state your traveling in is no excuse for non compliance. - ILVMYGTExplorerI noticed in the Towing Laws that several states (OR & NJ) had a 50 foot combined length. That's pretty short. If the toad (CRV) is 15 feet plus 5 for tow gear, that only leaves 30 feet for the motorhome.
- mdanielson55Explorer44ft holiday rambler and a 35ft box car hauler and no trouble. West coast central us and southern I have traveled. I think its to long for the north east. with that long of a stacker make sure your coaches hitch will support it. See ya on the road

In general, I'd say you are unlikely to get bothered if you are driving sensibly and, otherwise, within the law. But here are a few things to consider:- You are still outside the law. Any LEO who wants to bust you will be within their authority to do so
- There are times where there are concentrated crackdowns on vehicle length. I've heard of this happening in Daytona Beach during the races when some drivers brought long or otherwise non-compliant trailers in.
- In an accident, you will likely be measured.

This is true. They'd need a few tape measures though. :)
