On my vintage Prevost I lift the tag leaving storage for better turning.
One time I loaded family and took to Sierra. About 60 miles later I start thinking "did I lower the tag?"
It was still up and I did not notice the difference.
Tag on the bus was for higher load capacity, that my motorhome never reaches and even with tag up, my rear tires are not overloaded.
I did own 40' Country Coach on Gillig chassis with no tag and only crossing the ditches was an issue with some rocking.
No problem driving straight on the highway.
