The banks are just doing their best to prevent fraudulent use in today's world. They are just trying to protect themselves, and us, against loss.
I don't think it is fair to complain about that. Everyday major retailers are being hacked and numbers stolen. It gets worse daily.
We had similar problems as the OP. We now notify our banks with a secure message on their website with our basic travel plans. No problems since.
