The only problems I consistently have is fuel pumps shutting off at some arbitrary amount, $75-$100. Credit card people say the fuel stop cuts it off, the fuel stop says its the credit card issuer.
Just go inside and authorize it with the clerk for some amount like $200.00 then when done go back in and have the clerk correct the amount. Both will show up as pending but after a while the $200.00 will drop off.
I do it to stretch the legs and avoid the aggravation of swiping the card 2 - 3 times
I have only been to one gas station that would do that. And even them, I specifically asked if I could choose which account the $ came out of when I pay (debit). Was assured I could. They lied. Screwed up some stuff and we had to hunt down wifi to get online and get it sorted. US gas stations suck.
