I don't think it is fair to complain about that. Everyday major retailers are being hacked and numbers stolen. It gets worse daily.
I didn't mean for it to sound as a complaint but more of a 'just for your information'. Like I said in my original post. I appreciate them watching out for fraud. I just wish I had known before leaving so I could have avoided the problem.
I agree that the banks should make a better effort to educate their customers about this. We had our cards shut down at a gas station after filling the the TV. Not enough cash to pay.
The station would not let us leave or use their phone to call the bank. It was a total PIA. Never again. We always notify the banks now.
