I just completed a trip to Nevada and back. I bought fuel and meals in MT, ID, and NV, as well as a motel room in ID.
I make only ONE trip like that per year, and perhaps 2 or 3 in-state trips, 700 miles or less one way.
A couple years ago, the major trip was to Chattanooga and back, in the motorhome.
I have never told anybody about my travel plans, never had card problems.
