On our current MH the first one was replaced under warranty within the first year, the second one now needs replacing.
Prior to that every MH we ever owned still had the original AC on it, with the oldest being 20 years old.
I'll say it...they just don't make them like they used to.
Thread last week about failing A/C units HERE - cyntdon2010ExplorerWe also had to replace the control modules. hopefully we never have to replace the entire unit. our's is about eight years old

Hello All,
Can anyone pipe in with an average lifespan of a ducted roof air unit? I can't really find anything on the internet that gives any idea. - Tom
Depends on what you call it's life, as anything can be repaired.
If anything that might go wrong, sends it to the dump, then not long in many cases.
I give up, when the refrigerant leaks out and whereas it becomes cost ineffective, unless you're an a/c guy and already have everything you need.
We sold our last coach at 18yrs old, with some repairs to the front unit, but nothing to the rear. They were Dometic. We now have Coleman heat pumps and within our year of ownership, I replaced the start capacitor. Having said that, I have no way of knowing their history or with the other rig, that we owned for 9yrs. - TominTampaExplorerOK, thanks for all the inputs everyone. It sounds to me like it's probably more longer than shorter. Thanks again. - Tom
- SnomasExplorerMine original A/C units were 13500 but would not cool the MH very well in 100 plus degree climate. Now I have 2-15000 btu units and they work much better in 100 plus climate.

Yeah and must say, they are pretty good for the most part and some brands seem to last for a very long time. I was partial to Dometic, so hope these Coleman's will treat me, just as well or better.
