Several observations about the Star-track wheel lift on the Monaco SIG (clicky above). The back of the Sig looks to have the rear manually raised higher than the travel position. The front bracket for the lift is lower than the bar that goes under the tranny which I have knocked off twice. I already drag my hitchs on occasion which appear to be 4" higher than the lift.
I like the simplicity of the lifting part of the Electric Tow Hitch BUT not the leverage of the hitch on the car, especially one which does not have a frame... uni-body. On my Prius I looked at using bars that went under the A arms of the front tires to support it's 825 lbs/side but there is no good way of fastening them. On my SUV with a frame and a very stout WDH I use a shorten receiver/ball so the leverage is the least possible. At this point I've pulled it backwards for over 100K miles without any abnormal tire wear or any other problems.
Without a tag axle most big MHs cannot put an extra 2500 lbs on a single rear axle. Yes, I'm putting a extra 2500 lbs on my rear axles because the 1650 lbs back there is taking 850 off the front axle... not a bad thing on my MH that's heavy on the front axle. For those worried about my MH's frame, you need to look at one first.
