When I read your title of your post I thought you were crazy. After taking a real fast look at your blog I changed my mind. Looks like you got a plan, and the needed funds to support it.
AAA state trip books have a nice section in them of star attractions for each state. They make it pretty easy to scan and figure out what is worthwhile given your interests.
Given your family I'm guessing the National parks, Disney (Land and World), both oceans, a couple of mountain tops, and a few national monuments (Statue of Liberty, the four heads, etc...)
Have fun, take lots of pictures so the younger ones can remember easier.
