Looking at a Class A, price check please

1997 Gulf Stream Scenic Cruiser, 34 footer, no slides, 460 with 36k miles. one owner and garage kept when not in use. is in very good condition for its age and absolutely zero water damage. new transmission in the last few thousand miles, banks exhaust system, newer brakes, and good tires. Generac NP-66g with 450 hours.

Owner (great guy and as mentioned original owner) will take $10,500 and that includes him taking it to the local rv shop and fixing the front ac (not very cold), leveling jacks (only 2 working) and couple other minor issues. I wouldn't be surprised if it costs him 1500-2000.

is this a reasonable price? I think it is, but a buddy of mine wasn't so sure.

tks

  • I would go hear and look at the low wholesale.

  • That seems like a very reasonable price. Non slide models have less value.
Just be prepared to put in some money and effort every now and then. It's not a "turn the key and go" sort of thing. But then again, what RV is?

Good luck. It looks really nice.
  • Vegas,
your saying 10.5 is too high? not sure about the trans module, but i'll check.
  • the owner is 75 years old and its obvious he's been taken advantage of by a few repair shops. header leak equaled Banks, leaking trans equaled new trans, etc..

his wife died 3 years ago and the rv was parked. earlier this year he decided it was time to get back on the road and took it to the shop to get it looked over and none of the issues I found were found buy the shop, but a new fridge was installed:)

I disagree, Those are 16" tires, Discount tire etc will sell and install.
Front A/C may just need a fil lup on r-134, Not expensive.

I had a 460 with Banks and it was a dream to drive (Be sure it has the transmission module)

At that price, I'm sure the OP can put a little money in it.

    Why a new tranny?

Check tire date codes. If the tires are aged out, it could run you up to $4,000 for new tires.

Leveling jacks, A/C and a "couple other minor issues"...sounds to me like the unit's been used, abused and put away wet....This guy doesn't sound like he pampered this baby...

I'd tread carefully and ensure a full inspection before I'd give him a penny....Dennis
