thanks for all the useful info!! i understand the issues of letting a motor home sit. i will have to move it periodically as there are no hookups in taos ski valley at the moment. I aslo dont have a vehicle that can pull a bumper pull trailer let alone a fifth wheel. im currently looking at a 97 pace arrow and a winnebago adventurer.
You are going to be in a cold weather location with no hookups? That means your heat is going to have to come from the propane furnace in the motorhome. Like has already been mentioned, motorhomes are not that easy to heat. They are not insulated like houses. That means you are going to use a huge amount of propane to keep that thing warm when the weather gets cold. Maybe somebody here can give you some ideas on how much it's going to cost, I just know that the few times I've taken my RV to cold weather locations you can almost see the gauge on the propane tank dropping as the furnaces run.
Without hookups you'll also likely need to run a generator a lot to keep the batteries charged and things running. Sounds like you have a tight budget when you're talking $4k to $8k as an original purchase price. Can you afford to spend hundreds?? of more dollars each month for propane and gas and maintenance to keep that generator going?
