For the last sleeper I slept on I cut cedar fence boards (approx 6" wide and around 1/2 to 3/4 thick) to the length that just fit inside the frame (sitting on the lip). I cut 4 of them and spaced them evenly between supports and that helped quite a bit. The boards are light, easy to manuever and store. I will do the same for this bed but will probably get the air dream on top of that for comfort. Don't make the same mistake I made cutting the boards... the frame is different widths at different points, don't measure one spot and cut 4 boards. I numbered them from top to bottom once I recut them.
We first thought about cutting slats like we used in beds years ago, so the cedar fence boards would work the same way. Since we've tried the 3/4" thick plywood, and know that it's too thick I'm hoping the fence boards are 1/2". I know what you mean ..."that the frame is different widths at different points" found that out with the board we have now ... fits good at one end but not on the other. So I will keep that in mind when measuring 'again'. Thanks for the tips!
