Fry guy,
Received a piece of "junk mail" from Directv today soliciting upgrade/lease of HR20 MPEG4,etc. In the small print, was the comment that a continous land line connection is required for DVR service. Haven't ever leased anything through Directv and don't plan to start. I purchased our unit and went for the two year commitment since we are alwasy going to have Directv. Did you run into this or as I am starting to assume, the phone line is required as part of the lease to assure that the unit is not moved. (WE have had the NFL package on out home unit from the beginning and one season the dedicated phone line to that unit was cut by a contractor and was out for about seven months. I am not so sure that the phone line means all that much. When I talked to Directv when the line was reconnected, they sent a signal to download the Pay per View movie data and they never said anything about the NFL.)
