I would go the PPL route, offer $2000 less and buy tires with the savings.
I personally have the 8.3 larger version of the 5.9. but use a 5.9 when I help a friend with harvest and the 5.9 tows 22 thousand pounds of fruit plus the truck weighs 8000 plus for a total of 30,000 pounds. Truck has 183 thousand miles and no major repairs, runs like a top.
You will not be the first to the top of a hill but who cares.
That coach probably weighs around 24,0000 pounds.
