Losing fresh water on right turns

After we have filled the fresh water tank, water drains out of the overflow tube every time the motorhome leans to the left. Over the course of a day's drive we lose about a quarter of a tank.

An RV repair shop told us that the water is "siphoning" out of the tank and that it is just a bad design.

Anybody out there had this problem? Better yet--has anybody out there FIXED this problem?
  • We added a valve to the Jayco when filling it was opened and when done it was closed.
  • Yes, very simple fix as long as you can access the overflow hose. Easiest way is to add more hose and get the bend up higher. Sometimes you can add a "T" to the line at the highest point. With the "T" mounted up side down, you run a second hose off of the "T" to a higher point. This way when it tries to siphon, it pulls air in, instead of water from the tank.

Others have added a valve to theirs so that they can close the valve while driving. This can be problematic if you don't remember to open the valve.

You can usually find a similar type hose to what you have in the plumbing department at HD or Lowes.
