I really need more photos of the painted walls!!
I am planning a remodel this winter and was going to redo wallpaper but I have had reports from others that it will just peel off unless I use some super powerful adhesive and so I am considering painting instead but I'm trying to get pictures and ideas of what others have achieved with paint first.
I'll take closer pics and will give you more feedback on the results. We were very concerned about paint not bonding to the vinyl. From my experience and from talking to a buddy that is a professional painter, one of the only "guaranteed" ways to get good adhesion is to use a good shellac based primer (zinsser BIN is what we used, it is pricy at about $40 per gallon but is worth it) The primer is very watery in consistency and you have to be extremely careful not to drip it on the floor. In the kitchen area we plan to first steam the wallpaper with a steam cleaner to loosen any grease and will probably do several cleaning cycles before priming.
We removed the stripping between the carpeted roof and the walls (they are simple trim covered in wallpaper) and primed/painted up to the carpet, being careful not to touch it. When we are done with the RV we'll prime/paint wood trim we purchased at our local lumber dealership and will then pin it up, covering any gaps in the paint between the carpet and the walls. (first we are going to clean the carpet roof... that should be interesting :) )
I'll try to take some closer pics as we go-
