Low Air Presuure Alarm

Newbie...hope this is posted in the right place. Can someone help me out with following: I just purchased a 2007 HR Ambassador 40SKT. Low pressure light works but alarm doesn't. Should they activate at the same time, are they on the same sensor/circuit, where is the alarm located. Thanks,I appreciate any suggestions.
  • Do the following test. Chock your wheels and build up your air. Shut engine off. Park brake NOT applied. Repeatedly apply the brakes via the foot treadle. Watch the air pressure gauge. At around 60 lbs. the low air light should come on and the low air buzzer should be buzzing. Keep applying the brakes and the Park brake should pop out. If you did this test and all worked then you are good to go. If the park brake did not apply you have a problem that needs to be fixed right away. If the buzzer did not come on then that too should be fixed.

  • No audible alarm in my Country Coach. When I took my driving test for CA noncommercial class B license the examiner was not concerned as long as the parking brake activated at the correct low pressure.
  • Mine used to kick about 60..but many Monacos had an annoying issue with parking brake switch and it would trigger the alarm while driving and be a pain..While it was an easy fix...perhaps the previous owner literally yanked the wires out of the beeper...mine had two a beep beep and a loud constant tone if more than one issue...when I had my HR coach.
  • You've got two systems. With the engine off, parking brake off, and the ignition on, pump the brake pedal fast and bleed down the air. Alarm and warning light should come on prior to 60 psi. If it doesn't then get the system checked. If you keep pumping the brake pedal, the parking brake should engage between and 25 and 40 psi. This procedure is part of the CDL test.
  • May it has two set points. Try letting all the air out and see what it does and turn ignition on.
