I have the SaniCon unit in my coach. It has clogged twice in 8 years of RVing and was caused by someone putting a moist towelette down the toilet. Even though I rarely have to access it, I didn't like the way it was mounted at the rear of the water bay. Last year, I did a preventative maintenance on it and replaced the impeller. To do this, you have to remove it from the plastic box that it's mounted in. After doing the maintenance, I realized the box was just for looks and limited the positions that I could mount it in. I dumped the box and just remounted the pump. It works great and is more easily accessible if necessary.
To me, the most important part of the SaniCon unit is the grey water bypass. When I set up at a campsite, I turn the SaniCon on momentarily with both valves closed. This causes a suction in the unit and cleans the bypass valve of any grey water/kitchen debris.
JimM68.......We've taken multiple showers with just the bypass open and have never had any need to run the pump. You have a 60 gallon holding tank, are you filling that in two showers? Years ago, I took the bypass apart, enlarged the holes and took some of the sharp angles out of it. Mine drains fairly fast. Even parked for a week or more, he bypass has kept up with usage. Check your by pass for debris or sharp turns.
