Boy did this one hit home with me. Dealer "apologized" to me for his low trade in offer. Then when I ask how much for the new rv without the trade, he immediately lowers the new price by $15,000. He wants to give way below low retail on the trade and Full MSRP for the new one. Lowers my trust level on these dealers.
I have the mfg. price list, MSRP and options on a sheet from two different dealers. One has only the mfg. name on it and one has the dealer name as well. MSRP varied by many thousands ! So to buy, I just got in the phone with lots of dealers and got the best price. Easy deal for them ......five minutes of their time and I ordered.
So now I am working on selling on my own, using rvtrader and eBay. I researched prices of others, priced it lower than nada. But buyers seem to be dealing the same way as new: wanting that 20% off. I am not dealing with a 40-50% profit margin and a willingness to make a little less profit . Everybody wants to steal it. I dont need to price it in order to payoff a loan or to fund my next rv. Just want a fair price. It is a great rv, in near perfet condition. The offers come without any questions or need to see the rv. So it seems buyer must realize how low they are and it is worth taking a chance.
Sorry for the vent. Any advice on how to attract serious offers?
