DH and I have spent the past year thinking, pondering comparing, researching and narrowing down. Quite a process.We have decided it is time to step up from our 2009 Class C to a new Class A.Narrowed it to 5, then by process of elimination to 3 and decided this week that we will be happiest in a Allegro 36 LA. Sticking with a gasser unit. It fits our needs best and our budget. Just DH and I and our Chocolate lab.So now we must start the buying process. Times are much different now, then when I purchased our coach in November of 2009. The industry is on the rebound and sales are increasing steadily. What percentage off MSRP are being offered (and accepted) currently? I'm a little bit at a loss as to what to offer....especially with my 2009 Class C trade-in.Any tidbits and pointers will be appreciated. From what I have seen on the various RV forums, you should still be able to get 25-28% off list price. This is typically only when you do not have a trade-in and is, without a doubt, the best way to buy a new unit.Trading in a unit will really cloud the actual price for the new RV and I suggest you sell your current Class C outright and deal with a purchase without the trade-in factor. I've read many situations where folks have suggested that a trade-in essentially figures out to be almost the same out of pocket price as you could have bought the new RV for without a trade-in. In outer words, you are almost giving the dealer the trade-in unit and paying about the same price as you could have bought the new RV for outright!!On the last two new motorhomes we bought we received a 26% discount on our 2005 Allegro Bus and 28% on our 2012 Winnebago ERA.

I doubt you will get 25% off MSRP. I would look at 10-20 and probably coser to 10-15% Be prepared to walk the first time out, unless you want it that bad. You will love the 36LA.

I too have been toying with the idea of trading the Bounder for an Allegro 36LA. I contacted a couple Tiffin dealers to get an idea of trade-in value, price of the 36LA and difference they wanted. I know that from 2 dealers, they will sell me a fully optioned 2013 Allegro 36LA for around $110K. I got a price sheet from Tiffin, put the options the MH we wanted, and the cost was right at $147K retail. This equates to a 25% discount, and I really didn't have to negotiate this too hard. Probably could get a little more if I asked again.BUT...throw in the Bounder on trade, and now I'm looking at about an $85K difference. This means I'm getting about $25K for the Bounder, about half of it's current $50K NADA value, and financing not only the $85K but the $60K I still owe on the Bounder...a total of $145K. Pretty much retail for the Allegro.Have decided to sell the Bounder for $50K (if I get that), and cover the $10K negative equity with a HELOC loan. That way, I'm clear of the Bounder, no trade in, and I can negotiate a 2014 Allegro 36LA from a 25-28% off retail price.

Boy did this one hit home with me. Dealer "apologized" to me for his low trade in offer. Then when I ask how much for the new rv without the trade, he immediately lowers the new price by $15,000. He wants to give way below low retail on the trade and Full MSRP for the new one. Lowers my trust level on these dealers. I have the mfg. price list, MSRP and options on a sheet from two different dealers. One has only the mfg. name on it and one has the dealer name as well. MSRP varied by many thousands ! So to buy, I just got in the phone with lots of dealers and got the best price. Easy deal for them ......five minutes of their time and I ordered.So now I am working on selling on my own, using rvtrader and eBay. I researched prices of others, priced it lower than nada. But buyers seem to be dealing the same way as new: wanting that 20% off. I am not dealing with a 40-50% profit margin and a willingness to make a little less profit . Everybody wants to steal it. I dont need to price it in order to payoff a loan or to fund my next rv. Just want a fair price. It is a great rv, in near perfet condition. The offers come without any questions or need to see the rv. So it seems buyer must realize how low they are and it is worth taking a chance.Sorry for the vent. Any advice on how to attract serious offers?

Been shopping Tiffins, 25-28 is correct.

Eight weeks will seem like an eternity! Hoping to be able to make a trip to Red Bay to see part of the built when we get word.
One must surely do theiir homework. After we made the decision as to which coach was right for us, I did a reasonable amount of research and due diligence. We feel comfortable that we did okay with our purchase. Did we make the cheapest deal on a 2014 Tiffin Allrgro 36LA coach possible nationwide? I'm pretty confident we did not. But I am confident we made the best deal in the state we live in, at this time in the production/sales calendar. I don't want to wait until mid-winter, drive several states away, or wait until spring, or for the next model year to come out.
Time to look forward and with anticipation to our next new coach!!

You did fine with your deal, comparable to what I arrived at when I bought our new one. In most states, the sales tax is based on the difference. Deducting the trade can save a bundle on sales tax. In AZ, the sales tax can be a huge factor. Even with my trade covering half the cost of the coach it still cost me $15k.

From the bleachers, our rigs are seldom worth what we ask for them.

They are only worth what someone will pay.

The lower the price the quicker it will sell.

My neighbor has been selling his house for 1.5 years.

He has recently dropped the price yet again for a $100,000 discount from when he started.

He also has done about $20,000 in upgrades in the meantime. He does not need to sell he says.

No buyers yet, although most other houses in the neighborhood of similar size and better perceived value are selling within two months of listing.

Made the deal and went back tonight to drop off a deposit and the 2014 Tiffin Allegro 36LA will be ordered first thing in the morning.
Thank you everyone for your input and help. Gave me the additional confidence to hold firm and stick to my numbers. General RV accepted my offer and I am comfortable that we made a good sound and most importantly, fair deal. We did okay with the trade-in, mid-50's. Could have probably done better selling it outright myself by a couple thousand, but I would rather not wait who knows how long to sell it, and certainly don't want to be coming back to them next spring trying to make the deal with a now older trade-in. I offered them 20% off MSRP on the new coach, and that was what was finally agreed to. I am a happy camper. In fact going to take our coach for perhaps the last trip next week.
Thanks again RV.net buddies! Can't wait to post pics of the new coach in appox 8 weeks!
