Folks, i'm looking at changing out the speakers on my 2005 Majestic 28R. I'm replacing the head unit and the speakers in the cab, and would like to install a new set of rear speakers just behind the cab. The existing rears are installed in the rear bedroom, which to me is totally useless.
Does anyone have any idea where the speaker wires to the rear would be routed through? The four winds factory guys claim no knowledge of this, and report that the routing diagrams for 2005 are long gone.
any help is appreciated! :)
Since you're getting a new head unit (I assume it is not a Ford radio) then you'll need an adapter harness to go between you're new radio and the Ford radio harness.
The adapter harness should come with a diagram to tell you which wires do what. Cut the rear channel wires on the adapter harness. Cut them about 3 inches from the back of the connector that plugs into the Ford harness. Tape off the unused wires on the back of the connector and run new speaker wire from the adapter harness to your new rear channel speakers in the cab.
Why tape off the orphaned rear speaker wires on the adapter harness? This way you have the option of installing a small amp at a later date to drive both the rear cab speakers and the rear bedroom speakers.
