A generator running while driving allows you to run the rear AC. Not an issue if you are not going to be in hot weather or if it is only two people and they are in the cab. If it is over 90 anyone in the back will need AC. Yes you can build a rack to hold your portable generator so you can run it while driving, did it on our first RV, but it is a hassle. Plus the rack you build to hold the generator would give you close to the same amount of storage as the built in generator space.
