Do you have a source? I can't find anything about the Sprinter being discontinued. Didn't they build a new plant in South Carolina last year to build them here in the States?
Reading the article I think people have concluded that Mercedes is discontinuing all diesel vehicles in North America just because they haven't submitted paperwork to the governing authorities in the US and Canada for their future vehicles. That may be the wrong conclusion. It could be that they haven't come up with their solution to the B20 fuel situation yet so they don't have anything to submit at this point. They, along with other vehicle manufacturers, have delayed or been late in submitting required paperwork on new designs if they haven't completed all their engineering at that point.
Until Mercedes makes a positive statement that they're not going to build and sell Sprinter diesels in the US and Canada I'd take all this with a grain of salt. The market for those vehicles it just too large for them to ignore - remember the Sprinter is used in a lot more applications than just RVs. GM stopped producing some of the chassis used for years in the RV industry and Ford and Dodge's offerings to date don't have the same payload or towing capacity of the Sprinter. There's just too much of a market for all the manufactures (RVs and non-RVs) to totally walk way from, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
