Here are just a couple of comments and observations from our recent trip.
1) Love bugs can cause real damage to a mh front. $2,000
2) Gas stations in the Keys are not mh friendly.
3) Venture Out in Cudjoe Key is not dog friendly even though they tell you they are.
4) The beaches in the Keys stink. All of them! Due to seaweed. Some were even trashed with litter. You pay to enter all of them also.
5) Key West is a tourist trap. You pay dearly for a parking spot for your vehicle.
6) Sloppy Joes has the best margaritas.
7) Mel Fisher museum and Hemmingway house were great.
8) Car manufacturers can save money by eliminating blinkers since very few people use them.
9) States should recycle speed limit signs since very few pay any attention to them.
10) New Orleans stinks literally! Graphiti everywhere. Everyone after your dollar. Will never go back there!
11) Pat Obriens in the Quarter has great Hurricanes.
Overall a good 3 week trip but now can say been there done that.
My thoughts.....
1) If you clean them off good, with lots of water, you won't have any long term damage. Yes- they are a real pain and a mess
2) Stations in the Keys are like anywhere else-- some are OK for large rigs and others not
3) Venture Out is more of a park model/trailer park vs a RV park. Too many restrictions and not really a place that welcomes visitors and pets.
4) Yes, lots of seaweed right now-- just got back from a 3 weeks in the keys.... it's nature. Oh, you don't pay to go to Higgs Beach or Smathers Beach.
5)Yes- it's a tourist economy. City Parking is $4/hour. There is free parking on some residential streets, you just need to know where to go!
6) In my opinion, Sloppy Joe's is the biggest tourist trap in KW. Much better places and drinks elsewhere.
7) Agree
8) Agree
9) Agree
10) Yes, there are some nasty areas, but also some very interesting areas and great live music and some outstanding restaurants.
11) Pat Obriens is a tourist trap too. Sort of like Sloppy Joe's
You got out and saw it.... not to your liking, so get out and explore more. I happen to like Key West, but you wouldn't catch me in NYC for any reason.... been there many times and not my kind of place. I like to visit NOLA, but only every couple of years. We are all different and have different likes. That's why is great to be able to explore new areas and see what works and what doesn't on an individual basis.
