Mike Thompson RV Fountain Valley, CA

If you want to see what customer should not be go here. Had my new coach in three times for the same problem and still not fixed. Tech advisors do not return calls and one even admitted that he never worked on an rv before, explains the deer n the headlight look every time a question was asked. Picked up my RV today only to find black foot prints on white carpet, dead chassis and house bateeries and bird******on the exterior. Thank god a new dealership opened in my neighborhood and I won't have to deal with these clowns anymore. Even the GM threatened to hang up when I complained. I wish I would have looked them up on yelp before I went. To be fair did purchase the MH from them and that did go smooth, but once I had to get service it went bad. I actually had to call my salesman (David House) on several occasions to find out what was happening. He actual called me on his days off to help with the poor service.

  • Of the 24 complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau, 19 are service related...buy from me buy never come back for service.....:S...Dennis
  • Bought from MT FV ten years ago and all went well. (trailer, not class A)

Returned for minor warranty work and all was fixed without issue. Mostly cosmetic stuff.

Couple years later back in to find a water leak. Never found the issue but was looking for a holding tank issue vs an intermittent fresh water leak. Eventually I found this myself. No charges from MT.

Accident repair about five years ago. MT handled everything regarding the insurance claim and repairs. Got it right the first time with no issues.

I would have no trouble going back the MT. Although I do try to stay out of all dealerships if possible.
  • I've done 3 deals with them at their Colton store. Everything has been smooth and have no complaints. I've never had to go back for service issues though.
  • You think if they cared they would read boards like this and defend themselves, I guess they really don't care
  • It's sleazier than that.

Some of their techs are not employees- they bill by the job or don't get paid. They have a vested interest in billing more so your repairs are excessive. Personal experience.

Never ever ever go there unless it's an emergency

Moreover they have a cute diagnostic flat cost of 375.

  • I almost bought my Winnebago Vista 35b there last year, I went with another dealer. I felt the salesman was demeaning towards my wife when she balked at giving them a deposit. Really don't appreciate pressure tactics and manipulation.

    They are very sleazy.
  • This outfit has drawn negative comments from their customers for years now. There is so much negative about them out there now that if you do business there you will probably be unhappy. It begs the question; Why do you go there?
  • I really can't comment of Mike Thompson RV service, as my new motorhome was purchased there, I took it for one service problem, the water heater did not work, I arraigned for a same day service, the problem was the plug was loose, it was "serviced"...re-plugged...and I went home. No complaint, but not much was required. They did find the problem.
As for Mike Thompson RV Fountain Valley Sales, I couldn't be more pleased. I started my RV search with trepidation, as I have spoken with many salespeople over the years who have absolutely no knowledge of RVs or RVing. I started dealing with Cher Lyckman, who has RVed, does RV, and was exceptionally knowledgeable regard her products and many of the other brands on the road. Every promise made by the Mike Thompson store was fulfilled, there was no upselling, no pressure, just a good experience and I believe I received a fair deal. During the negotiations, which took months because we were not sure just what we wanted, they offered to bring a coach down from another store for inspection, a 2014. We were asked to put up a "$1,000 good faith refundable deposit". We did, after making sure numerous time it was refundable. We did not purchase that MH, and our deposit was instantly refunded...actually the check was returned uncashed. We did then purchase a 2015 with a floor plan which matched our requirements. I am a happy camper and I will continue to recommend Mike Thompson RV to my friends.

    Happy Trails.
  • That's been Mike Thompson's M.O. for years. When shopping for a new coach in 2005, we stopped in there to see a new Winnebago 36' DP we were interested in. We stopped at the Santa Fe Springs store, but the coach was at the Fountain Valley store. We said we were willing to drive to Fountain Valley and see the model we were shopping for. They repeatedly asked if we were buying that day. I told them we wouldn't buy anything before seeing it. After a few rounds of this, they told us the coach was no longer available for viewing.

We never went back and recommend that no one else go there. They're the epitome of a sleazy dealership. A few months later we bought a new 2005 Monaco Diplomat.
