Accsys, thank you for the additional source. I'm a member of FMCA but have never checked their guide as I get the towing guide with my subscription with Motorhome Magazine.
I see that the FMCA towing guide has retracted that the 2017 Lincoln Continental is four-down towable. They are showing that the Lincoln MKX AWD is towable which is the one that I bought. The salesman also told me it was towable as he has customers buying one for the very purpose. I was not able to get my hands on a owner's manual but will check it when the car is delivered at the dealer today or tomorrow before I finalize the deal (verbally agreed at the moment).
Safe travels,

You should be able to find the owners manuel on line.
Bill - bullydogs1Explorer IISo Honda bowed out..so did Subaru with their manual transmissions..knew about the Edge and the MKX...did not know MKC/Escape had issues with towing...I keep my Saturn very well maintained and this is why...My daily driver is also towable just in case someone T bones the Saturn as it is virtually unreplaceable...Plan B would be to take the Sonic and trade it for an Equinox...but the Saturn is in tip top shape and equipped to take the dogs with us when we go on excursions...Congrats on the Lincoln Mark....that Honda is going to make a nice toad for someone...I'd keep it for a bit to ensure that the Lincoln does OK...
- oldcarfunExplorerMr. Mark, Please post about the MKX. That's what we are thinking about. Also thank you Accsys for clearing up my confusion. I am a member of FMCA also and will check their dinghy towing guide.

MM. - accsysExplorerIt appears we are talking about two different animals here: "Motorhome Magazine" put out by the Affinity Group which includes Good Sams and Camping World; and "Family Motor Coaching" put out by the Family Motor Coach Association. I trust the latter in just about anything thing they print, not so much the former. JMHO :B

Thank you Mark! I thought I was losing my mind! I double checked that it was 2017 many times and nothing between GMC and Hyundai. By the way, we are thinking about the Lincoln SUV, don't remember which MK it is. We are about 1.5 hours from Redlands and that is a possibility for us. We are taking a long rv trip this fall and plan on looking for the new car after the trip. Thanks for the tip and good luck with the Lincoln.
That's not my experience. When I go to the January 2017 Digital Edition on the FMCA website I get the Honda listing. I also get it when I go to the 2017 Towing Guide listed under the towing section on the FMCA site. You do have to login to the site to get to those pages.
I pulled the Towing Guide under the 'Motorhome Magazine' website. That's where the Honda's are absent.
MM. - oldcarfunExplorerI am looking at the paper 2017 edition "2017 Guide to Dinghy Towing" by Motorhome. I saw all the editions online but didn't look at 2017. I was glad they're available in case I want a used toad. Funny, maybe there were a few misprints. I wish I could take a pic and post it here.

My Owner's manual says that my Accord cannot be towed 4 down. After 70,000 towing miles, I think I'll go with the Remco guide,.
Look up recreational towing in the owner's manual of the car you're interested in (most manuals are online). If the car can be towed flat or not it should say so and give instructions for towing, dollying or whatever. Note that now even some manual transmission cars are not to be towed flat.
Don't put faith in guides, the owner's manuals are the real word. - Mr_Mark1ExplorerOldcarfun, the Lincoln MKC is not towable (Ford Escape sister), the Lincoln MKX is the sister to the Ford Edge. Even the new Continental is towable four down.
The MKX has a five star crash rating. In my TN city, they stopped carrying the Lincoln product (city of 1M people). Lincoln wants our local 'big' dealers to build a new building to separate Ford and Lincoln and they are refusing to invest the $4 million. So, no Lincoln's in my big city. I had to drive 100 miles to a small Ford/Lincoln dealer (town of 11,000 people). I was assured that the local Ford dealer will maintain the car with no problem, just can't buy them there.
