Ok guys here is a recap of today. left tucson headed east on I10. 65mph (68 indicated). The 65 from the scan gauge and from the gps. went from approx 2500 elevation to a little over 4000 so mainly climbing. at 65 I am turning 2500 rpm, on long pulls it would run to 3500 to maintain the 65 mph. On a couple of steeper pulls it went to 5000 but did not seem to work as hard as when it was stock where it sounded as if it were about to come apart. anyhow got gas in Las Cruces, NM. 3.37.9/gal at the TA. took 32 gallons which figured out 8.3 mpg. Not too bad towing a 2013 Hyundai Elantra which is about 2700lbs or there about.
got to Van Horne about 150 miles just over a needle width of 1/4 tank, seemed to be a little better per the scan gauge. Tomorrow we head south going over to Ft Hood. should be on secondary roads for about 1/2 of trip.
El Paso sucked with road construction from Anthony to the east of ELP. Traffic bumper to bumper.
Will try to update tomorrow with another fueling and maybe slower speed. Did notice at slow speed Scan Gauge showed less mpg than at speed? Throttle control at low is better, somewhat improved at speed, drove mainly on CC.
Am thinking about a free flow muffler and an free flow intake when we get home! Cant hurt and will/should improve overall performance.
On my scan gauge I had to adjust the given speed by adjusting the % of error..I used my gps to get what I hope is the actual speed..did you do the same thing?
