First, this is anecdotal... but I've read about people getting a low pressure twin-turbo system for the Ford V-10. Turbos are difficult because the V-10 is a massive air sucker. I've also read about superchargers used as well with 5-8 PSI for boost.
You will need a completely new tune if this is done because the engine is breathing differently, and the ECM needs to take that into account.
Done right, it might be just the answer, because it will minimize the loss of power on hills. However, I don't know how it will affect the engine reliability long term. Too much boost isn't going to help matters, but just a couple PSI can probably make a difference.
