Something else for the OP, the main reason to use a motorcycle lift is so you can also bring along a toad. If you aren't bringing a toad, then there is no real good reason not to simply get a trailer for the bike. It's probably cheaper to have a trailer anyway.
smith1199,
I agree with about 99% of what you stated. The part about being cheaper with a trailer, well, it all depends on what kind of trailer. Before we did the Hydralift thing on the back of the coach, we had '99 Fleetwood Bounder 34V with the V-10 and, I purchased a 7'x16' V-Nose Interstate, fully enclosed, fully finished trailer for hauling the Goldwing and, other motorcycle odds and ends.
That was a great plan. However, it has its issues too. For one, you have to have a pull through for each and every camp spot. And, based on that style and size of trailer and, the strength and size of the motor home at the time, there was no way to pull a car and have the bike too. The motor home was/is not strong enough to haul that kind of weight.
So, we chose to go the Diesel pusher route and, haul the Wing on the back and, tow a toad too. You get the best of both worlds that way. But, for the more affluent, there's the fully enclosed car hauler and haul the bike inside too. Anyway you look at it, the enclosed way is a lot cleaner for the bike.
