Now that I am starting to look, I see that there are a lot of low mileage units available for far less than I expected. So, with that said. What issues do I need to be aware of, and reasons not to purchase a unit as listed below. Or a unit that is of this age range.
Thanks for the info.
Ambassador, 06, 32,000 miles 330 cummins, model 38PDQ, 39'5", 4 slides $84K
40' 2004 Allegro Bus By Tiffin 400hp Cummins w/3 Slides $90K, 65K miles
40' 2002 American Eagle By Fleetwood 400hp Cummins w/2 Slides $87K, 36K miles
As paul noted I'm not sure there would be bunks in any of these.
Having said that, if the floorplans would work for you here is my opinion - take it for what it's worth.
Ambassador - Well built coach (hung wall, not laminated), HR was enjoying a good reputation around that time. I believe you'll find it is a rear radiator. Not a hung deal but most prefer a side radiator. We've had both, both worked well, I prefer the side radiator simply for improved engine access.
The Tiffin - The good news is Tiffin has a reputation for excellent factory service after the sale. The bad news is everyone knows it. My parents had a Tiffin - I wouldn't even consider one. I know a lot of people like them, I'm not one of them.
The American - a well built coach towards the upper end. Take a close look for delamination and fiberglass cracking. Fleetwood (builder of American) like many others has some pretty serious fiberglass issues around that time. I've also seen far too many around that age the were suffering from bad delamination. If the fiberglass checks out and there is no delamination American builds a nice product.
