Here's some other real world numbers. This summer we drove from Lillehammer, Norway, down through Sweden into Denmark, across Germany to Prague, Czech Republic and back to storage in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. 2111miles $1702 for gas averaging $8.19/gallon and worth every penny.
